- We counted out 100 footprints and taped them down in the hallway to see how far we could reach
- We counted out and made a necklace out of 100 fruit loops

- We did made 100 Valentine cards as a service project. They'll go to residents at a local nursing home

Looking ahead - next week is Catholic Schools Week!!!!!!!!!!! So look forward to another fun filled, busy week filled with special ways we can celebrate our Catholic community!

In reading we're getting ready to move onto leveled readers and have the students get reading lots of books that are the appropriate level. I am in the process of screening each child using 2 different tests. One is the Star Test that will give an AR (accelerated reader) reading level and the other is a running record. Both tests will allow for assessing individual student needs and they will also give me a way to track their growth over the next semester.
In Math we are going to move on to study money. This is a fun unit and the kids really enjoy learning about coins and spending money. Don't forget to keep up the IXL practice! The kids are really showing some amazing skill development in the short time we've had this program in the classroom!
In Social Studies we are going to complete just a few more lessons to wrap up our Asia/Lunar New Year Unit.
In Science we are finishing up our animal unit. This week we worked in small groups to learn about animal homes/habitats. In the next few weeks we are going to focus on some different experiments so that we can continue hypothesizing, observing, and recording outcome. Our next experiment will be looking at a variety of mixtures, and soon after that we will be growing some germs.
In religion we are going to continue with some Bible stories of the Old Testament.
