Welcome Back!

Welcome back from break! And welcome Spring....hoping it will feel a little more like Spring very, very soon!

The kids are back and adjusting well after having 9 days away from school. I enjoyed hearing about all the fun things they did over break. I hope that you all had an opportunity to spend some time together enjoying some family time!

The kids did a great job on all their testing right before break. I am looking forward to sharing the results with you at parent teacher conferences.

Reading:

  • Our new theme is "Weather"
  • We'll be reading stories and using vocabulary that goes with weather and the four seasons
  • New leveled readers came home yesterday. The students can re-read them to you at home for practice. I'll be changing them out 1-2 times a week (Mondays and Thursdays). Sending back the old ones will help us conserves recourses!
Math:

  • We are continuing with clocks and time
  • We will also be spending one day a week focusing on fact families. I will soon be sending home some practice they can do at home to fill out the fact family sheet. They will be memorizing these facts as part of the M&M club.
Writing:
  • This week we're writing about our spring break. On Monday we all made word webs to organize our ideas
  • On Friday we'll doing a short writing project using 1-2 of our ideas from the word web
Science:
  • We are going to focus on the human body over the next few weeks...we introduced our topic today by drawing HUGE pictures of ourselves.
  • Next, we'll look at the 5 senses
Social Studies:
  • We are creating books to represent each student's "world". We'll start with "me" and then move to my family, my home, my school, my neighborhood, my city, my state, my country, my continent, my world.
Religion:
  • We'll be reviewing our Lenten promises this week
  • We will also have an introduction to the Stations of the Cross and attend the Stations on Friday.
*********Volunteers needed starting April.....we will be having 3 special Sciences days coming up with Mrs. Chris (Peter's mom). She and a handful of her Carthage students are coming to do some fun experiments with the kids. We will need a few extra sets of hands for the experiments. The dates are April 5th, 12th, & 19th from 12:30 - 2:00. Please let me know if you are interested in joining us!********
