Hi All,
Life's been busy in kindergarten these past two weeks! First of all let me say thank you for taking the time to come in and chat with me during parent teacher conferences. I appreciate having the opportunity to update each of you personally on your child's growth and accomplishments.
Here's what we're up to now.....
Science:
This has definitely been the highlight of our time together last week and again this week ~ Peter's mom (Christine Blaine) has been generous enough to donate her time, supplies, and even her college students to come in and teach us science. Last week the kids learned about liquids, solids, and mixtures. This week's topic was gases. The kids also made slime :) We appreciate all the wonderful things our students are experiencing! We're looking forward to more fun next week. Thank you all the people who have also taken time to come in and help us.
Math:
We are still focusing on learning addition. Next up will be subtraction. Have I mentioned that IXL is a great way to practice those math skills? :) I also recently found out that IXL continues in the summer!
Reading:
We are still using the theme of weather in reading. The kids are using this topic in writing, word work, and stories. Today during our reading centers, the kids enjoyed using Wikki Stix to spell and illustrate weather words.
Social Studies:
We are continuing with our books that talk about our world.
French:
The kids learned color words today.
Religion:
This week we learned about some of the events of Holy Week. The students worked on murals in small groups that featured the events of Holy Week. The kids has so many questions about Jesus....and they were filled with so much compassion as we talked about his suffering. Next week will will wring about Holy Week in small groups as well.
I am also so excited for our up coming Seder Meal. The whole school will take turns participating in this event on Wednesday. I think the kids are going to get a wonderful experience. I am going to try and video it for you so that you can see it too.
We also had the chance to plants seeds this week to symbolize new life.
Thursday will be our Egg Hunt and an all school Holy Thursday prayer service.
Don't forget to turn in the permission slip for the Safety Center.....and please send in those plastic eggs :)
