Weekly Update - Holy Week

We will still take candy donations for the egg hunt until Wednesday morning. The 5th grade buddies are busy "stuffing" the eggs. Looks like the kids are going to have a great time hunting for eggs on Thursday!!!!!!

Things we are working on this week include -

Reading/Language Arts  - Students are working with new sound sorts in their centers that feature digraphs using the sounds th, ch, sh, & wh.  Handwriting (letters Mm & Nn). New guided reading books on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. Books will likely be at a higher level for your child and they may require a little more additional support the first few weeks at their new level.

The students practiced literacy skills on this site last week and they really enjoyed it....(I especially like the sight word bingo!)

Math -  Time and clocks...this includes sequence of time, more or less time, time of day, calendars, and more. Continuing to have centers that feature money counting practice and clock practice. Tons of these skills are on IXL.

They are also loving these math games....

Religion - Holy Week and Easter.

Social Studies - Jobs & the places people work. Today we enjoyed working on the Smart Board to learn about these things!

Social growth - I am trying really trying to get the students into the habit of making good choices on their own. This means I am looking for them to be actively following our 3 Bees and setting a good example for others. Only 2 more months and they will be ready for first grade :) I am really pushing the idea of acting like "big" first grade students! They are on their way and looking more grown up everyday!!!!!!!

Thursday...1/2 day of school and we'll have our kindergarten/5th grade egg hunt in the morning. There will also be an 11:00 am Holy Thursday prayer service.

Happy Easter!!!!!! Have a wonderful break!!!!!
