Academics -
- Reading - guided reading groups working on questioning strategies to use after reading & flipping the vowel sounds in unknown words. Continued practice with vowel sounds and high frequency words.
- Math - review and testing on chapter 4. Beginning chapter 5 unknown partners with teen totals.
- Language Arts - Practice with sentence writing conventions in our 6 trait lessons. Words Their Way spelling assessment for winter and high frequency word spelling assessment.
- Social Studies - Needs vs wants (continued), jobs at home and at school.
- Religion - testing on seasons of the church, ordinary time in the church. Beginning chapter 8, Jesus and the followers of Jesus. Study of the Lord's Prayer.
- Technology - IXL practice/Star tests
- Homework - math packet, high frequency word list, January reading log. No spelling homework this week due to the other spelling assessments in class.
Coming up -
- Look for a permission slip coming home soon for our field trip to Jump America http://jumpamerica.com/ coming up on 1/30.
- Catholic Schools Week is coming up January 27-February 1. Look for information coming soon detailing all of the fun events happening this week!
- Progress reports will be coming home next week to update you on your child's progress this trimester. Look for them in your child's folder 1/23.
- Our first grade will also be taking a field trip to River Bend Nature Center coming up on 2/8.
