Tomorrow is grandparents day. Our class is in art 8:05-8:50. We will be in the classroom following art until it is time for mass. Grandparents can following along with our typical morning routine. They are also welcome to visit the book fair in the gym!
Book Fair will be open all week. Tuesday it will be located in the gym for grandparents. For the rest of the week it will be in the music room. If coming after school use the aftercare entrance. Children may go during the school day or after school with you. The days/hours are - Wed through Friday 7:30 - 6:00. If sending money to school please send in an envelope and label with your child's name & book fair.
Progress reports going home on Wednesday. If your child was able to successfully take the Start test I will include a report of their test with your child's progress report.
Friday - Field trip to Swans.
- We will leave school at 8:30 and return after 12:30.
- Chaperones please meet us in the classroom around 8:15.
- Pack a cold lunch for your child in a disposable bag. Please no lunch boxes.
- Most importantly - Dress for the weather!!!!!!!!! We'll be outside most of the day and it looks like it is forecasted to be only in the 50's. Students can wear their new yellow spirit wear shirt under their other layers :) casual clothes/play clothes may be worn, along with shoes that can get muddy.

Spelling (short e words) see new list and new study ideas for the month of October. Test on Thursday this week, due to the field trip.
Please turn in documentation of the 4 nights of spelling practice with other homework on Friday.
Fry words for October - continue reviewing the 1st 100 words, 10 per week. Work toward fluency and if words are mastered work on spelling. The words are on spelling city as well.
Daily 5/reading -
- Read to self - (building stamina)
- word work - (sorts with short o) & Fry words to 50
- work on writing - journaling short sentences, lists
- read to someone (building stamina, sitting EEKK, how to talk about books with a partner)
- mini lessons on short e, segmenting/blending sounds.
- Running record assessments, preparing to groups students for guided reading & Star tests (Monday)
Math - Unit 2 - visualizing addition/counting on
Language/Writing - 1st of the 6 traits - ideas
Spelling - Spelling practice test Wednesday & real test on Thursday (because of the field trip)
Religion - Jesus & the Holy Family
Social Studies - Unit 1 - school past/present
Social Skills - Second step lesson - feelings
Science - the scientific process
