• Friday (2/28) - We are tentatively planning an afternoon of sledding with our 3rd grade buddies. Weather permitting. I'll send home more details early next week.

• Individually wrapped snacks (to keep on hand if a child forgets a snack)

Short vowel word packet - read & practice for fluency

Lexia - (continue to practice at home) This is a computerized reading/phonics practice for your child. The more they practice the more they will get out of it. Use it as much as you like at home. Students will also be using it about 60 minutes a week at school. Mini lesson - How to writing

Mini lesson - long vowels, blends with short & long vowels, working on fluency skills
Assessments - running records / short vowels words

• Read to self - reading books at correct level
• word work - long vowel words and/or word games
• work on writing -  journal writing (writing about the Olympics)
• read to someone
• Lexia
• Listening center

Writing -Writing Project - How to writing. Develop ideas & pre-writing.

Math -  Unit 4 - place value concepts/ten grouping

Religion - Sacraments / Baptism

Social Studies - Lunar New Year / Chinese New Year / Olympics

Science - living things / animals - animal research project. Students can visit http://kids.nationalgeographic.com/kids/animals/creaturefeature/ to learn more about the animal they have chosen to research.
