SJCA has continued our winning streak for most PB & J collected at the elementary school level!!!!!!! Thanks again for helping our school give to so many people in need!!!!!!
******Please remember cold weather gear for recess this week! We'll be outside for recess & temperatures are expected to be cold!!!!! Winter coats, hats, gloves, etc. will make recess comfortable and warm for your child. **************

Things we need for the classroom-
- brown paper grocery bags
- homework this week includes math & a writing prompt. Please return on Friday.
- practice "One Breath Boxes"
- Lexia should also be practiced at home for a minimum of 20 minutes per week. They can practice daily if they want but no more than 20 minutes per day is necessary.
- Reading - reading daily at home is important to your child's literacy development. They can read on their own or listen to someone read. The more they are exposed to the better!
Literacy (reading & writing) -
- short vowel sounds (short a/e)
- word sorts with short a word families
- Reading assessments
- identifying beginning, middle, & end of stories (using the story the 3 Little Pigs/ 3 Billy Goats Gruff)
- illustrating & writing about the beginning, middle, & end of stories
- small groups working on segmenting & blending words, & more phonics skills.
- working on high frequency words
- acting out addition & subtraction stories
- recognizing & using 5 groups
- characteristics of hexagons
- numbers 6-10
- applying math to real life
- review of chapter 2
- Rocket Math - a fun way for the students to practice & master their number writing skills!
