A special thank you to everyone for coming to parent teacher conferences last week. It was great to sit down and talk with you about your children.
The kids did such a wonderful job with the Thanksgiving play! I am proud of all their hard word. I hope that everyone enjoyed it.
Coming up this week -
- Friday fun lunch forms due on Friday
- school Christmas program in church on Thursday December 11 @ 6pm
- water color paint sets
- math & writing assignments
- practice "One Breath Boxes"
- Lexia should also be practiced at home for a minimum of 20 minutes per week. They can practice daily if they want but no more than 20 minutes per day is necessary.
- Reading - reading daily at home is important to your child's literacy development. They can read on their own or listen to someone read. The more they are exposed to the better!
Winter Weather Reminders-
Please remember to pack winter gear for your child every day. If it is easier, children can leave an extra pair of snow pants to keep at school for daily recess.
We do go outside most days for recess unless the temperature in less than 10 degrees and/or the wind-chill is less than 0. Rain, drizzle, or blizzard conditions also keep students inside.
To play in the snow your child must have ALL of these items - coat, boots, snow pants, mittens/gloves, hat. Extra dry socks kept in the backpack will also help feet stay warm & dry.
Literacy (reading & writing) -
- short vowel sounds (short o)
- word sorts with short o word families
- working with poetry in small groups
- writing - making lists
- assessments (phonics, reading level)
- intro to unit 3
- numbers 0-20
- addition/subtraction practice
- Advent / waiting for Christmas
- Christmas program practice
