Weekly Update #17

Coming up this week -

• 1/2 Day of school on Friday (casual dress for students)
• Classroom Christmas party Friday morning

Things we need for the classroom-

• water color paint sets

Homework -

• practice "One Breath Boxes"
• Lexia should also be practiced at home for a minimum of 20 minutes per week. They can practice daily if they want but no more than 20 minutes per day is necessary.
• Reading - practice reading small readers/paper stories & record on the reading log. Please keep the list in your child's folder so I can track their progress and send home the appropriate stories each night.

Literacy (reading & writing) -

• short vowel sounds (review & assessment)
• word sorts with ABC order, counting syllables, building words
• small groups - unscrambling sentences, concept of print skills (find & identify punctuation marks)
• identifying the characters, setting, & events in stories  
• writing - draw & label story elements
• assessments  (phonics, reading level)

Math -

• intro to unit 3
• numbers 0-20
• visualizing 10 groups
• making teen numbers
• addition/subtraction practice

Religion -

• Advent / waiting for Christmas

Social Studies - needs & wants

Science - day and night skies
