Weekly Update

Here's what is happening in kindergarten!!!!!

Reading/language arts - our new reading theme centers around colors. This week we'll be brainstorming color words to add to the word wall. We'll be reading several stories that use color word vocabulary. Our writing work will also practice making sentences with color words. Our first guided reading sessions will begin on Friday. Look for the small reading books to be in the student folders on Friday for practice at home.

Math - this week will be our final week of patterns and positions. We'll review both topics and students will be assessed in these areas toward the end of the week and next Monday.

Social Studies - students are completing their final assessments for our first unit on friends and families. Each child designed a hanging mobile of either their home or school.

Religion - We are continuing to study about creation.

Multi Age Groups - this month's lessons will focus on the Lancer Value - Respect

Thank you all for taking time to come and meet with me last week during parent/teacher conferences. It was great to take the time to talk about your children and how they are progressing so far this year! I am proud of all the achievements they have made so far this year.

If you have not already turned in the field trip permission slip and $$$ please do so ASAP. As of today we still needed 5 more to be turned in.

Auction donations are coming along great...see the updated list on the right. Donations can be made through the end of the month!

Our school is now collecting Peanut Butter and Jelly to support Feeding America. You can help by picking up peanut butter and jelly in PLASTIC jars. Donations can then be brought to the classroom. This is a great service project for our school to participate in! Last year SJCA won and students from our school were featured on Fox 6.

Looking ahead - Next Tuesday we are planning a fall leaf collecting walk with our 5th grade buddies.

Friday the 21st...Swan's Pumpkin Farm

Friday the 28th....Classroom Halloween Party/Parade
