Happy Monday everyone! I hope everyone is finding time to enjoy this early spring weather. I know the kids are excited that it has been so nice outside.
If you have not registered yet for 1st grade please do so ASAP to reserve your child's place in a class for next year!!!!!!! Please contact me if you need another copy of the registration form!!!!! Knowing the correct numbers of students coming back next year also helps our school plan accordingly for the amount of teachers that will be needed. Thanks in advance for helping with this.

Things we are working on this week include -
Reading - We'll be working on the reading strategy, questioning, with the texts we are reading. Students are doing this during guided reading and our read alouds. Continuing with word work, building reading stamina, reading comprehension, high frequency words, and more with literacy centers.
Next week will be an assessment time. I'll be completing new running records to re-assess reading levels and reading comprehension.
Writing - writing simple sentences with a focus on using capital letters and punctuation. Working on making first and second drafts of writing to make corrections. I am really trying to correct any handwriting errors prior to first grade. Especially important is name writing. I am expecting students to only be using capital letters in appropriate places. If students have been writing their names with all capital letters this can be a really hard habit to break!!!!!
Math - Continuing and assessing money this week.
Religion - Bible stories (continued) along with Lent and Easter. St. Patrick Lessons (teaching about the Holy Trinity and St. Patrick's Day themed mini Rosaries on Friday.
Social Studies - Continuing with needs and wants
St. Patrick's Day activities Friday. Students can wear jeans and green tops!!!!!! :)
Friday is a 1/2 day of school.
Looking ahead -
All School Mass next Monday (Feast of St. Joseph)
Next Tuesday - Anything Goes - play @ the Upper Campus - Please return permission slips ASAP if you have not already done so.
Look for permission slips to come home soon for the annual kindergarten trip to Officer Friendly's Safety Center (Wednesday March 28).
