weekly update

If you have not registered yet for 1st grade please do so ASAP to reserve your child's place in a class for next year!!!!!!! Please contact me if you need another copy of the registration form!!!!! Knowing the correct numbers of students coming back next year also helps our school plan accordingly for the amount of teachers that will be needed. Thanks in advance for helping with this.

Things we are working on this week include -

Reading - We'll be working on the reading strategy, questioning, with the texts we are reading. Students are doing this during guided reading and our read alouds. Continuing with word work, building reading stamina, reading comprehension, high frequency words, and more with literacy centers.

Running Records are being given this week to re-assess student reading levels. There will not be new leveled readers coming home.

Writing - writing simple sentences with a focus on using capital letters and punctuation. Working on making first and second drafts of writing to make corrections. Handwriting (letters Jj & Kk)

Math -  Assessing money and introducing clocks. Both topics could be practiced in IXL.

Religion - Bible stories (continued) along with Lent and Easter.

Social Studies - The seasonal change to Spring

Foreign Language - the kids are beginning their 3rd week of French and Mandarin. They are enjoying both. We have French on Mondays and Mandarin on Thursdays.

Today we enjoyed an all School Mass (Feast of St. Joseph). Next week the kindergarten students will be responsible for the Tuesday mass. Parents are welcome to join us in church @ 10:30.

Tomorrow (Tuesday) - Anything Goes - play @ the Upper Campus.

Thursday - Spring pictures - students can wear their choice of clothing for these pictures.

Safety Center (Wednesday March 28) please return these permission slips if you have not already done so!

Next Monday - No School (staff inservice day)

Here's a few photos from Friday. The Trinity Irish Dancers were amazing! The kids really enjoyed their performance.

Waiting for the show to start...we are all dressed in our green!
