The kids had such a great time last week participating in the Homecoming Spirit week. We got to do lots of fun stuff at school all week. It was great to see such a big turnout of lower campus families at the tailgate & football game!
This week we are looking forward to a regular school week. It will be nice to get settled back into our routines. Here's what is happening this week -
Reading: We are ready to start guided reading this week! I am excited to start meeting with the students in small groups. We will start this week working on predictions. I will be working with the students on developing this strategy over the next two weeks in our guided reading sessions and also in our whole group re-alouds. While I am working with the groups, the children will continue to be working on their daily 5 work.
Math: We are continuing with different addition strategies. Today the students brought home a parent note explaining how we will be counting up from 5 groups.
Religion: Finishing up with the Sign of the Cross & the Holy Trinity. We will have an assessment on these topics later in the week.
Writing/ language arts: Spelling and word work focuses on short u words. We will have the practice test on Wednesday & the real test on Thursday. Writing will continue to focus on developing ideas.
Social Studies: We will be starting unit 2. This unit focusses on communities.
Homework: This week's homework includes math, spelling practice, October reading logs, & the name project. Homework can be returned on Thursday this week. If you will need extra time for the name project (over the week) please let me know. Students will be presenting their posters next week.
