Weekly Update # 29

Here's what is happening this week - 

1/2 day on Thursday for teacher inservice

Reading/Daily 5  - Mini lessons on long vowel a (with silent e/ai/ay) Guided reading groups will be discussing characters & setting in stories.

Social goals - daily acts of kindness, social stories & posters about behavior expectations, & more. Remember to ask the kids about their acts of kindness and to encourage them to treat ALL students with kindness & respect! 

Math- Unit 7 time, shapes, equal parts

Language Arts - completing  our personal narratives

Social Studies -  Intro to Unit 4 (our earth & resources), timelines

Religion - Easter (continued)

Technology - IXL

Homework - math packet, spelling practice, practice reading mini readers, new word list (Fry words 161-200), social studies time line project 

*Social Studies Assignment*The students took home a poster paper & directions for their personal timeline. Please see the note for directions and the ruberic. If there is not enough room on the construction paper please feel free to add on or use your own poster board. The timeline should include important events in your child's life from birth to their current age. There should be 6-7 elements for the timeline at a minimum (one per year).  Pictures (drawings, photos, magazine pictures) should be incorporated into the timeline. All projects are due by April 22.  After the projects are turned in the students will present their project to the class. Please contact me with any specific questions.
