Here's what we are working on this week -
Remember picture day is Thursday! No uniforms...dress appropriately for pictures!
Daily 5/reading - Language skills practice (daily), word work (defining back to school vocabulary words - final week), Daily 5 mini lesson (building stamina) Reading assessments using the STAR test. High frequency words (Fry words). Introduction to word work using letter sound sorts. The students are working hard building stamina with word work & read to self. This will allow us to maximize our guided reading sessions and small group work in the future!

Language/Writing - Introduction to the writing center, preview various topics to write about
Spelling - review of of letter sounds using sorts. This prepares the students for the routine we will be using for our weekly spelling words. (see the link on the right for more information on words their way as a way to teach spelling.) Coming up I will be sending home more information on spelling, how to study as homework, testing, & word lists.
