Week 19


Hope that everyone stayed warm this week! We have a short but fun week with several activities planned for Catholic Schools Week.

Wednesday - In School Science "field trip"
Thursday - Dress Up Day / all school mas @ 9:40 / make Valentines and Hugs & Kisses for seniors. 
Friday - Jeans & Spirit wear - Living Rosary (2 pm in church)
Friday Night - Spaghetti Dinner & Bingo night...order your tickets this week if you haven't already done so!!!!!! 

Classroom needs -
  • Lysol disinfectant spay - to use on soft surfaces in the classroom like our carpets & beanbags
  • wet ones
  • Individually wrapped snacks (to keep on hand if a child forgets a snack)
Homework - 

Math - n/a 

Spelling - n/a

January reading log

New list of Fry Words - (101-200)  Practice for fluency. They can also be spelled if your child has mastered fluency.

Lexia - (continue to practice at home) This is a computerized reading/phonics practice for your child. The more they practice the more they will get out of it. Use it as much as you like at home. Students will also be using it about 60 minutes a week at school. Make sure you log into the Core 5 @ http://www.lexiacore5.com/ see http://www.lexialearning.com/product/core5/ for details about the program.

****Please consider coming in and spending time being a "Secret Scientist" for the students. Please review last weeks email for more info. If you need additional info or would like to schedule a day please contact me or Mrs. Smither. There are still plenty of chances to come in!

Mini lessons - digraphs (sp, sk, sm ) - continued
Mini lesson - organization in writing
Mini lesson - ABC order with Fry words
Mini lesson - short u (review), short a with blends, working on fluency skills
  • Read to self - reading books at correct level
  • word work - short u words and/or word games
  • work on writing - list writing st words, journal writing

Writing - 6 traits continued 

Math -  Unit 4 - place value concepts/ten grouping

Religion - we belong to a parish (review / test)

Social Studies - Lunar New Year / Chinese New Year
